Museums

The museums in Alsace bear witness to the region's rich past and artistic talent which has been influential throughout Europe. There are plenty of small and large museums to visit such as the Albert Schweitzer Museum in Kaysersberg and the Lalique Museum in Wingen-sur-Moder. In Sélestat, the Humanist Library presents a collection of works by the humanist Beatus Rhenanus, included in UNESCO's Memory of the World register. In Mulhouse, the automobile museum proposes a fantastic range of vintage cars collected by the Schlumpf brothers. In Colmar, Unterlinden Museum is one of the leading fine arts museums in France and is home to the Issenheim Altarpiece.
