Villé Valley cycle route
From Villé to Sélestat, the route follows the old Salt Road from Lorraine to Germany. At the confluence of the Steige and Urbeis valleys lies the lively town of Villé. The town is the capital of kirsch, production of which remains an important activity in the area, not to mention the many equally renowned quince, raspberry and mirabelle plum liqueurs. The route crosses the Véloroute du vignoble d'Alsace - EuroVelo 5 at Scherwiller, capital of Riesling. Nearby, the ruins of Château d'Ortenbourg stand out against the mountains. At the junction of the two Rhine departments, on the Strasbourg-Colmar-Mulhouse-Basel railroad line, the medieval town of Sélestat is home to some remarkable sites: the Humanist Library (UNESCO), the church of Sainte-Foy, the Commanderie Saint-Jean, the Tour des Sorcières and the residence of Ebersmunster.
