The winery Schmitt et Carrer, a family of winegrowers handed down from father to daughter, covers 15 hectares in Alsace, certified Organic since 2004. The conversion to biodynamic viticulture in 2020 marks a crucial stage in our commitment to living viticulture that respects the terroir. Each plot is fed with organic manure and cared for with plants (nettle, horsetail, camomile, etc.) to produce wines with a unique identity, vinified without sulphites for some of the reds since 2017 and for their first white without sulphites in 2021.
Our philosophy is based on the connection between man, the earth and nature. We favour natural vinification with spontaneous fermentation to preserve the authenticity of each grape variety. The wines are then lightly sulphured to guarantee their longevity and transportability. The estate also farms three of Alsace's 51 Grands Crus, cultivating the region's seven emblematic grape varieties with care and passion.
The winery Domaine Schmitt et Carrer is a place to visit, where you'll receive a warm welcome in a setting that combines aesthetics and authenticity (some public holidays only on appointment).
You can discover their know-how and the soul that emanates from their wines, the fruit of sustainable agriculture and natural growing practices in tune with local biodiversity.
You can also visit us in our boutique in the heart of the imperial town of Kaysersberg.
