" An ancient custom to chase away the darkness and celebrate the arrival of spring. Watch the locals throw away the flaming disks… and try it by yourself ! "
Set the sky on fire... The Schieweschlauje - or flaming disc throw - takes place every year on the eve of the first Sunday in Lent on the heights of Dieffenthal. A breathtaking spectacle.
At nightfall, at the Rocher des Celtes, wooden discs reddened in the fire and struck on a flat stone are projected into the air using a flexible stick, drawing luminous arabesques in the sky.
This tradition of Celtic origin serves to chase away winter and herald the imminent arrival of spring. Throw flaming discs and be inducted into the Confrérie des Schieweschlaja.
